MENLO PARK, Calif. – Facebook announced a test today for a new feature called “Digital Time Travel.” This feature lets users revisit old posts and memories in a new way. Facebook started testing it with a small group of users in the United States.

The feature works by grouping old posts together. It shows them like a timeline from the past. Users can see posts from specific years or months. Facebook says this makes finding old memories easier. It is different from the regular “On This Day” reminders. Digital Time Travel focuses on exploring longer periods.

People in the test group can find Digital Time Travel inside their profile. A new section called “Your Time Travel” will appear. Tapping this shows collections of past posts. Users can scroll through years. They can also pick a specific year to explore. The display shows photos, status updates, and check-ins from that time.

Facebook explained the reason for this test. The company wants to help people remember important moments. Many users have years of posts on Facebook. Finding specific old memories can be hard now. This feature aims to solve that problem. It organizes a user’s history visually.

The test is only available to some users right now. Facebook will watch how people use the feature. The company will gather feedback during the test. Facebook needs to see if people find it useful. They also need to check for technical problems. There is no guarantee this feature will launch for everyone. Facebook might change it based on the test results. They might decide not to release it at all. The test period has no set end date. Facebook will share more information later.
